Evolution of Video Game Consoles [Infographic]

Avid gamers know all the current video game consoles and the various games that one can play. They know the characters and have probably even completed some of the games. However, it takes a special kind of gamer to remember the popular games from years ago. Video game consoles have come a long way and with their evolution, we have also seen the evolution of the video games as well.

NES was one of the most popular consoles back in the day. Mario Bros. was one of the favorites with over 40.4 million copies sold. The Nintendo Wii was also very popular with Wii Sports as the best seller having sold 82.7 million copies. The SEGA Dreamcast also falls among the ‘greats’ with Sonic Adventures selling 2.5 million copies. In the list of popular games is the Xbox 360 which cannot be forgotten owing to the 24 million copies that were sold for the Kinect Adventures. The list of legendary game consoles and games is long as we pay homage to all the consoles that led us to this point in time. Now we can engage more in games thanks to virtual reality.

Holo Lens, HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift are some of the more popular virtual reality gaming headsets. The introduction of VR to gaming has taken the experience to a whole new level. Now you can view zombies as though they are in the room as you fight them. The Axon VR gaming suit is expected to make the experience much more interesting with its haptic response technology. At the end of the day, however, we will enjoy the advances in gaming if we can see what we had to work with about a decade back.
