This 3D Model of Anakin's Podracer consists of files in StereoLithography (.Stl) format that is optimized for 3D printing.

ABOUT THIS 3D MODEL

Secretly built by the young slave Anakin Skywalker, the custom repulsorcraft proved to be the fastest Podracer in the key Boonta Eve Classic that earned the boy both victory and freedom. Two lean repulsorlift engines connected to a small cockpit module via Steelton control cables made Anakin’s racing vehicle much more efficient and swifter than all the other competing Podracers. Thus, having won the race on the Tatooine a boy who would later shape galactic history was discovered by the Jedi.

Anakin’s Podracer truly is a remarkable craft of The Phantom Menace instalment of the franchise, and a dear vehicle to any Star Wars fan. Our contributing 3D artist did a perfect job bringing to life the fastest racer ever! Anakin Skywalker’s Podracer for 3D printing boasts incredibly detailed repulsorlift engines, chariot-style Pod with a pilot seat and embossed engravings, and a spirit of adventure that can fortunately be captured by the means of 3D printing! 

ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING

Anakin’s Podracer for 3D printing is an active assembly model and its moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took the Gambody team 42 hours in total. 

For you to receive the cleanest 3D printing result possible and to minimize the amount of filament needed for generated support the Podracer model was divided into many assembly parts, and special mechanisms were introduced into the model’s movable elements to give you options of displaying the iconic Podracer.

All assembly parts are provided in STL files in recommended positions that were worked out in order to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and that the 3D printing beginners won't face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate. When downloading any model's file you will also receive "Assembly Manual" for FFF/FDM 1.0 and DLP/SLA/SLS 1.0 versions in PDF format. We highly recommend that you get acquainted with the “Assembly video” and "Assembly Manual" before getting down to the Anakin’s Podracer model.

The model is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The model's scale was calculated from the actual length of the Anakin's Podracer which is 10800 mm. The 3D printing model's chosen scale is 1:16 for the FFF/FDM version and 1:34 for the DLP/SLA/SLS version.

VERSIONS' SPECIFICATIONS

FFF/FDM 1.0 version features:
- Contains 68 parts;
- A printed ship is 163 mm tall, 312 mm wide, 723 mm deep;
- You can assemble your preferred variant of Podracer - the model can be static or active, with or without engravings on Pod and air scoops (if you want to use decals);
- Display the Podracer with Anakin Skywalker 3D Printing Figurine that is sold separately;
Triple air scoops open and close via the rotation of the repulsorlift engines (active variant);
- The repulsorlift engines require a twist motion (similar to pepper mills) to enable the scoops + rotation of repulsorlift engines also sets in motion the turbines (active variant);
- There are “open” and “closedscoops mounts for the static version;
- The Pod connects to two repulsorlift engines by Steelton Control Cables. You can print these cables from the available STL files, or you can use 1.75mm or 3mm filament instead and insert its pieces into designated holes that are designed to fit securely either diameter;
- The assembly of articulated spill air doors (in both active and static variant) requires additional "pins" that can be made out of short pieces of regular 1.75mm filament;
- The curved windscreen and thrust nozzle lids are provided separately to be printed with the transparent filament;
- Model is made hollow for you to introduce LED wiring and light up the thrusters; the battery can be hidden inside the repulsorlift engines or inside the platform;
- The highly detailed cockpit module is equipped with a pilot seat;
- Podracer comes with a stylised platform for you to recreate the Boonta Eve Classic Podrace;
- Make sure you carefully follow the assembly instructions provided in PDF or in the video guide;
- All parts are divided in such a way that you will print them with the smallest number of support structures.

DLP/SLA/SLS 1.0 version features:
- Contains 60 parts;
- A printed ship is 77 mm tall, 147 mm wide, 340 mm deep;
- You can assemble your preferred variant of Podracer - the model can be static or active, with or without engravings on Pod and air scoops (if you want to use decals);
- Display the Podracer with Anakin Skywalker 3D Printing Figurine that is sold separately;
Triple air scoops open and close via the rotation of the repulsorlift engines (active variant);

Cura printing recommendations:

These are basic settings that were tested in Cura 4.8.0 slicer. 

The test models were printed on Ultimaker 2, Creality Ender 3, Creality CR-10S Pro V2, Anycubic I3 Mega, Anycubic I3 MegaS 3D printers with PLA and PETG filaments.

Disclaimer: The following printing settings are a recommendation, not an obligation. The parameters can vary depending on the peculiarities of your 3D printer, the material you use and especially the particular assembly part at hand. Each part that any model comprises often needs preliminary review and you are free to tweak the settings the way you find suitable.
