ABOUT THIS 3D MODEL

Death Star is a monumentally dangerous and seemingly unrealisable project that was constructed by Imperial engineers not once but two times in a row! The iconic moon-sized Battlestations embodied the limitless power of the Galactic Empire and served as the ultimate symbol of Dark Side’s oppression. Too bad both Death Stars were exploded by the restless Rebel Alliance!

Gambody’s contributing 3D artist picked up an idea to recreate the second Death Star that is still under construction as seen in the film. DS-2 Mobile Battle Station for 3D printing displays intricate surface panels and highly detailed exposed superstructure. As the lore suggests, the second Death Star is powered by giant Kyber Crystals, the ones that fuel the lightsabers. Knowing that it comes as no surprise that superlaser focus lens of the 3D printing Death Star II seems to be ready to recharge for another shot in mere seconds. Hurry up to acquire your own 3D printed space station!

ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING

Death Star II for 3D printing is a static assembly model and its moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took Gambody team 47 hours in total. For you to receive the cleanest 3D printing result possible and to minimize the amount of filament needed for generated support the intricately detailed battlestation model was divided into many assembly parts.

All assembly parts are provided in STL files of the FFF/FDM version in recommended positions that were worked out to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and that the 3D printing beginners won't face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate. When downloading any model's file you will also receive "Assembly Manual" for FFF/FDM 1.0 and DLP/SLA/SLS 1.0 versions in PDF format. We highly recommend that you get acquainted with the “Assembly video” and "Assembly Manual" before getting down to the Death Star II model.

The model is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The model's scale was calculated from the diameter of the Death Star II which is 200 000 m. The 3D printing model's chosen scale is 1:544 for the FFF/FDM version and 1:1088 for the DLP/SLA/SLS version.

Below you can find printing recommendations for CuraSimplify3D and Slic3r software.

Cura printing recommendations:

These are basic settings that were tested in Cura 4.8.0 slicer.

The test models were printed on Ultimaker 2, Creality Ender 3, Creality CR-10S Pro V2, Anycubic I3 Mega, Anycubic I3 MegaS 3D printers with PLA and PETG filaments.

Disclaimer: The following printing settings are a recommendation, not an obligation. The parameters can vary depending on the peculiarities of your 3D printer, the material you use and especially the particular assembly part at hand. Each part that any model comprises often needs preliminary review and you are free to tweak the settings the way you find suitable.

Note:
- You can scale up the model (downscaling is not recommended!);
- All connectors should be printed at 100% Infill;
- For all parts of locks (“ge_lock” in “Source files”) you need to change "Brim" type to "Skirt" in Build Plate Adhesion section.
