ABOUT THIS 3D MODEL

Having decided to go 30 years into the future (“a nice round number”), Doc blasted off in his trusty DeLorean into 2015 where he encountered the wonders of now widespread hover conversion. Suffice it to say, the adventurous duo Marty McFly and Doc Emmet Brown no longer need roads to get up to 88 miles per hour - the DeLorean is now flying! It is a pity that 2015 didn’t actually bring us any hoverboards as envisioned in the Back to the Future movie but your 3D printed DeLorean time machine can already boast an alternative suspension and a pair of hoverwheels. What is more, you can mount your taking off DMC-12 on the platform that has fire trails on it and depict the car reaching the top of tall street lamps! One more Back to the Future scene that eventually became fan’s favourite is the DeLorean’s rushing along the railroad tracks to be eventually destroyed by a locomotive. The awesome alternative platform in the form of a railway tracks fragment that this kit comprises will help you depict this scene as well! Finally, you might be worried that the wheels are not enough to make the ordinary DMC-12 time-travel? The flux capacitor and time circuits box placed inside the 3D printing car’s highly-detailed interior have got your covered! We are sure “in 1985 plutonium was in every corner drug store”, but now, its a little hard to come by and there must be the only thing preventing your stunning 3D printed DeLorean to travel back to the future!

ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING

The process of adaptation of the DeLorean’s Kit 3 was focused on the model’s intricate interior and additional elements that would aid Back to the Future fans in recreating the movies’ iconic scenes. First of all, the vehicle’s rich interior was carefully prepared to make sure you will receive the cleanest result possible after printing. That is why all interior elements like seats, gear stick, levers, flux capacitor, rearview mirror, pedals, stereo and many more were carefully extracted and are to be printed and assembled separately. Decorative interior wiring does not come in STL files - you can use 1.75mm PLA plastic (or rope lights) and fasten it with clamps that come in STL files in 3 different diameters for you to choose from. There were also prepared alternative moon hubcaps, hoverwheels and rail wheels for you to recreate different movie scenes and two different platforms for your 3D printed model’s impressive display. All assembly parts are provided in STL files in recommended positions that were worked out in order to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and so that the 3D printing beginners won't face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate. The model's assembly requires additional "pins" to secure the parts of the 3D printed car. These pins do not come in STL files but can be made out of short pieces of regular 2.85 PLA, screws or wire of an appropriate diameter. We highly recommend that you watch "Assembly video" in the photo preview section before assembling the DeLorean time machine. When downloading any file that comprises the kit you will also receive "Assembly Manual" in PDF format.

This is the description of the model's Assembly Kit 3: Car Interior, Wheels and Platforms. Standard Assembly Kit 1 and additional Kit 2 can be ordered as separate items as well.

Below you can find printing recommendations for CuraSimplify3D and Slic3r software.

Cura printing recommendations:

These are basic settings that were tested in Cura 4.8.0 slicer.

The test models were printed on Ultimaker 2, Creality Ender 3, Creality CR-10S Pro V2, Anycubic I3 Mega, Anycubic I3 MegaS 3D printers with PLA and PETG filaments.

Disclaimer: The following printing settings are a recommendation, not an obligation. The parameters can vary depending on the peculiarities of your 3D printer, the material you use and especially the particular assembly part at hand. Each part that any model comprises often needs preliminary review and you are free to tweak the settings the way you find suitable.

Note:
- You can scale up the model (downscaling is not recommended!);
- All connectors should be printed at 100% Infill;
- For all parts of locks (“ge_lock” in “Source files”) you need to change "Brim" type to "Skirt" in Build Plate Adhesion section.
