ABOUT THIS 3D MODEL

Powerful and enigmatic Protoss are known for their psionic abilities, inflexible core philosophies, and, of course, the extremely advanced technology. One of the bright examples of Protoss’ gilded machines is their heavy air unit, the supership Carrier. Designed with curved and bulbous shapes, the Carrier is made of high-density alloys that are subject to a complex surface treatment and protected by powerful plasma shields that were meticulously developed by Khalai engineers.

Similar to Khalai craftsmen, our contributing 3D artist ventured into modelling the powerful warship of the Protoss arsenal and the incredible result can’t wait to join your 3D printing fleet! The model is pierced with a variety of intricate patterns and fine details while its dragon fruit-shaped silhouette comprises an orchestrated composition of thick curved plates. Carries never engage the enemy directly - they release an arsenal of deadly drone weapons commonly known as Interceptors. The 3D printing model of Protoss Carrier is also armed with four swift Interceptors that are ready to be launched through the in-built portal!

ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING

Protoss Carrier for 3D printing is a static assembly model and its moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took Gambody team 44 hours in total. For you to receive the cleanest 3D printing result possible and to minimize the amount of filament needed for generated support the spacecraft model was divided into many assembly parts, e.g. its four interceptors, thrusters, wings, the ”portal”, “fins”, various plates, etc. are provided as separate STL files. Also, special tunnels throughout the ship were prepared for you to light up the capital ship.

All assembly parts are provided in STL files of FFF/FDM version in recommended positions that were worked out in order to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and that the 3D printing beginners won't face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate. When downloading any model's file you will also receive "Assembly Manual" for FFF/FDM 1.0 and DLP/SLA/SLS 1.0 versions in PDF format. We highly recommend that you get acquainted with the “Assembly video” and "Assembly Manual" before getting down to the Protoss Carrier model.

The model is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The model's scale was calculated from the length of the Protoss Carrier which is 1370000 mm. The 3D printing model's chosen scale is 1:2000 for the FFF/FDM version and 1:4000 for the DLP/SLA/SLS version.

Disclaimer: The following printing settings are a recommendation, not an obligation. The parameters can vary depending on the peculiarities of your 3D printer, the material you use and especially the particular assembly part at hand. Each part that any model comprises often needs preliminary review and you are free to tweak the settings the way you find suitable.

Note:
- You can scale up the model (downscaling is not recommended!);
- All connectors should be printed at 100% Infill;
- For all parts of locks (“ge_lock” in “Source files”) you need to change "Brim" type to "Skirt" in Build Plate Adhesion section.
