ABOUT THIS 3D MODEL

Warhawk, also known as Masakari, is an 85-ton Battlemech that was produced by Clan Smoke Jaguar and is considered to be one of the oldest Clan Mechs introduced. Not particularly great for ballistic-based configurations, Warhawk is known to be pretty good at energy and missile launchers builds. Despite the general disagreement about this Mech’s efficiency, the author of Warhawk model for 3D printing decided to take up the project and spent 124 hours to create the famous assault giant with a huge torso and a nice arsenal of long-range weapons. As MWO fans have probably already figured out, the 3D artist didn’t go for any of the conventional Warhawk’s configurations. It was the concept art by Alex “Flyingdebris” Iglesias that served as the main source of the author’s inspiration. Masakari 3D printing model was designed taking into account all robot’s fine pipes, antennas and framework details in order to make sure that the Battlemech will be interesting to print, assemble and paint. Warhawk did have its in-game ups and downs but we are sure that many MWO enthusiasts will be happy to welcome the sturdy Mech to one’s 3D printing collection. Gambody certainly is proud of such an excellent addition to the MechWarrior category on our website.

ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING

MWO Warhawk 3D printing model is an action assembly model and its moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took Gambody team 42 hours in total. The model’s cutting was chosen by our team to minimise the amount of filament needed for generated support, such fine details as antennas, pipes etc. come separately. Model is cut in many assembly parts that are provided in STL files in recommended positions that were worked out so to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and that the 3D printing beginners won't face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate. To allow the multidirectional movement and rotation of the Warhawk model, the ball-and-socket joints and one-axis joints with lockers were introduced. The joints that ensure the Mech's movability are provided as separate files as well for you to be able to print them again if the joints' friction happens to lose rigidity. Missile launchers, autocannons, as well as other weapons Warhawk is equipped with are assembled in such a way that can be potentially replaced when the alternative Guns Pack for the Mech is released.

The model is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The model's scale was calculated from Warhawk's actual height that is 15000 mm. The 3D printing model's chosen scale is 1/60 for the FFF/FDM version and 1/100 for the DLP/SLA/SLS versions.

VERSIONS' SPECIFICATIONS

FFF/FDM 1.0 version features:
- Contains 47 parts;
- A printed model is 305 mm tall, 188 mm wide, 153 mm deep;
- Made with several sets of special joints to ensure the model's articulation;
- Assembly kit includes locks to connect the parts without glue. One lock 40_Ge_Lock_7h_x4 needs to be printed 4 times; lock 46_Ge_Lock_10h_x14 needs to be printed 14 times;
- All parts are divided in such a way that you will print them with the smallest number of support structures and so to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces.

DLP/SLA/SLS 1.0 version features:
- Contains 13 parts;
- A printed model is 182 mm tall, 113 mm wide, 92 mm deep;
- Made with special joints to ensure the model's articulation;
- All parts are divided in such a way to fit the build plates and to ensure that support structures are generated where needed.

SLS 1.0 version features:
- Contains 1 part;
- A printed model is 182 mm tall, 113 mm wide, 92 mm deep;
- Made as a solid one-piece Mech.
