Just Finished the Daishi - Dire Wolf 100 ton Clanner Mech
I bought this model a couple of weeks ago. As soon as I realized a new mech had been released—and that it was the Daishi—I knew I had to have it! The Daishi has been my favorite 100-ton Clan mech for many, many years. So, naturally, I HAD TO HAVE IT!
For the past two weeks, I've been slicing, planning, and working out the paint scheme, using screenshots from MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries as reference. I went with a custom forest-camo color scheme that I use on the mechs in my own collection.
I also special-ordered the Blue Steel filament from Kexcelled. I say special-ordered because I primarily use Sunlu filament, where I can usually get refill rolls for around $10.99–$13.99. The Kexcelled Blue Steel rolls cost $25.99 each, and I bought two. A bit of a splurge, but I think the results were worth it!
The Print
This build was printed on my Bambu Lab P1S Combo setup. I run two P1S machines: one equipped with an AMS and the other with an AMS 2 Pro.
The primary filaments used were:
Sunlu PLA+: Coffee Brown, Olive Green, and Oak
Sunlu PLA+: Klein Blue and Red for highlights
Sunlu PLA+ Silk: Silver
Kexcelled: Blue Steel
Planned Modifications
I'm planning to remove the lasers from the arms and replace them with a pair of Gauss rifles, bringing the configuration closer to the DWF-P.
Dire Wolf P — Hardpoint Configuration
Head: 1 Missile
Left Torso: 3 Energy
Right Torso: 1 Energy, 1 AMS
Left Arm: 1 Energy, 1 Omni slot
Right Arm: 1 Energy, 1 Omni slot
This has been a fun build to plan and bring together, and that Blue Steel filament really makes the extra expense worthwhile. The Daishi has always been a favorite of mine, so getting this version printed in my own forest-camo scheme makes it that much more special.
