Description

Altay Main Battle Tank;

The tank is projected to have a 120 millimetres (4.7 in) smoothbore gun and will include CBRN defense elements, to protect it from chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear weapons. The planned maximum speed is set at 70 kilometres per hour (43 mph), provided by an 1,800 hp (1,300 kW) engine (the first two batches will have 1,500 hp (1,100 kW) engines), and the MBTs will be able to function under 4.1 metres (13 ft) of water.

The tank will benefit both from indigenously developed systems and from the cannon technology of the South Korean K2 Black Panther, accorded by an agreement signed with South Korea. The first two batches will be powered by the 1,500 hp (1,100 kW) MTU engines whereas the last two batches will be powered by an indigenous 1,800 hp engine.[29] On 16 June 2008, SSM and industry members discussed a possible participation for the development of 1,800 hp (1,300 kW) indigenous power pack for use in the armoured personnel carriers and main battle tanks produced in Turkey.

Altay appears to share strong chassis characteristics with its technological base, the South Korean K2 Black Panther, with a re-designed Turkish turret and Aselsan's Volkan-III modular fire control system. The tank will be fielded with a STANAG 4579 compatible battlefield target identification system that ensures interoperability among small tank units. There are seven wheels, which translates to a longer hull, heavier armor and increased survivability. This is somewhat offset by offering a larger target size.

Important

To avoid printing issues and achieve the best quality, we highly recommend applying the following settings:

Generic

Quality:
Layer height - 0.2mm
Initial layer thickness - 0.2mm
Bottom/top pattern - lines
Horizontal expansion - 0.04mm (when entering 0.04mm index, the 3D printer perceives the model as monolith, i.e. as having no hidden layers).
Check this **Simplify3D User Guidelines to avoid any 3D printing problems with this software.

Speed setups:
Infill speed - 50mm/s
Outer shell speed - 30mm/s
Inner shell speed - 20mm/s
Top/Bottom speed - 20mm/s
Support speed - 50mm/s
Travel speed - 150mm/s
Skirt speed - 30mm/s
Amount of slower layers - 4
Infill:
Infill Pattern - Grid
Line distance - 1.5mm
Infill Overlap - 30%
Infill Layers - 0
Support
Enable Support - check
Placement - Everywhere
Overhang angle - 30°
X/Y Distance - 0.7mm
Top Distance - 0.2mm
Bottom Distance - 0.2mm
Stair Step Height - 0.5mm
Join Distance - 0.7mm
Area Smoothing - 0.6mm
Use towers - check
Pattern - Lines

Type - Brim
Brim Line Count -12 (up to 20, depending on the model’s height)
The model’s parts have been test printed in PLA

Recommendations
All parts will arrange on the print bed in such a way as to get a clean printing, the upper parts not needing support.
