T-62 tank model for 3D printing is inspired by the popular video game and the real war machine that used to hold the first line in the Soviet army. Produced between 1961 and 1975, it was a combat machine with a big, 115mm gun.

The 3D modeler designed T-62 tank 3D model according to the original tank layout. The 3D printed tank’s hull is 49cm long together with the gun in forward position.

It consists of 62 parts, including the interior with the driver’s compartment at the front, fighting compartment in the center and engine compartment in the rear. It has both the tank gun and the general-purpose machine gun, mounted on the right of the main gun. At the rear, it features two drum-type fuel tanks.

After assembly, the turret rotates at 360 degrees and the gun can be lifted at 45 degrees. The caterpillars have been modeled and optimized to be 3D printed in resin and are movable. All manholes can be opened at 180 degrees.

The STL files have been optimized for 3D printing and can be reproduced on all types of 3D printers: SLA/SLS and FFF. The largest part is 175mm long/wide. All parts are no more than 100mm tall an designed to fit 18*19cm print bed.

T-62 tank 3D print model is 156mm deep, 492mm wide, and 137mm tall, and is available in assembly form. The modeling took almost 80 hours. Your 3D printer will have to run for about 3 weeks to get it printed. This is a High-Poly 3D model, consisting of 1356623 polygons, showing superb surface details.

3D printer files have been corrected in Netfabb and executed in CURA 15.06 and Repetier Host and measure 72 MB. You will be printing an error-free model of high detail fidelity. This is a replica of a historic war machine, with accurate detailing of all elements of the original model optimized for 3D printing.

On 27.12.2016 the model files have been optimized and made solid. They now are adapted to be 3D printed using any slicing program. 3D model files are already available for purchase and download. 

This model was tested in cura 15.06. To avoid printing problems, we recommend:

Quality:

  • Layer height - 0.1mm
  • Initial layer thickness - 0.3mm
  • Bottom/top pattern - lines
  • Horizontal expansion - 0.04mm (when entering 0.04mm index, the 3D printer perceives the model as monolith, i.e. as having no hidden layers).

Check this **Simplify3D User Guidelines to avoid any 3D printing problems with this software.
**On 27.12.2016, the 3D model files have been optimized. You can print them without following these Simplify3D guidelines, as the model is solid.

As a STL file provider, our goal is to ensure that the files are error-free and printable in the most accurate way. This is why, we only test print the most difficult segments of the model’s parts.

The model’s parts have been test printed in PLA

Recommendations

All parts will arrange on the print bed in such a way as to get a clean printing, the upper parts not needing support.

For the parts 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 28, 29, 30, 49, 50, 54, 56, 57, 58 it is recommended to increase print time of the layer from 5s to 8 - 10s, to allow plastic to cool. This procedure is not necessary for a small print bed surface, if more parts are arranged on the print bed.

It is also not recommended to increase print time for the parts 24, 25, 26, 27, 59, 60, 61, 62 and from 31 through 44 (Caterpillar tracks), because they consist of small elements, positioned very close one to another. Otherwise, the model will print with outer defects.

For the parts 8, 9, 11, 22, 23, 30, 57  - use GRID instead of LINES, and the distance between the support’s walls no bigger than 1.5 mm

The parts 59, 60, 61, 62 are optimized for those who print in resin. These 4 parts form the right and left CATERPILLARS. You can position several parts on the print bed.
