One-line summary:
High-detail, watertight STL of a steampunk shark head that transitions into an integrated wall hook — riveted straps, monocle/gear detail, and patina-ready surfaces for metallic finishing.
What’s included
- Single watertight STL file containing the entire solid model (shark head + harness + hook).
- Model exported as one shell with outward-facing normals and no internal overlapping geometry.
- Ready for slicing (no assembly required) — intended as a single-piece decorative hook.
Model intent & presentation
This STL contains geometry only (no color or materials). It’s designed to be printed and then finished to resemble mixed metals: silver/steel shark body with brass/bronze harness and verdigris patina in recessed areas. The provided product images use a light blue background for presentation; the STL itself holds only the geometry.
Recommended use
- Decorative wall hook for light items (coats, keys, towels) or display piece.
- Suitable for resin (SLA) printing for fine detail or FDM for larger, robust prints with appropriate settings.
Recommended FDM (filament) print settings
- Printer type: FDM desktop printer (or SLA for finer results)
- Material: PETG or PLA+ recommended; use ASA/PETG for better toughness if hanging weight. Resin (SLA) recommended for gallery-quality detail.
- Nozzle size: 0.4 mm (0.25 or 0.35 mm for better rivet fidelity)
- Layer height: 0.12–0.2 mm (0.08–0.12 mm for higher fidelity)
- Perimeters / walls: 3–5 perimeters (increase to 5–8 if you need a very strong hook)
- Top/bottom layers: 6–8
- Infill: 20–40% general; increase to 50–100% in the hook region if you plan to hang weight
- Print orientation:
- Default: Upright (head up, hook down). Natural display orientation but may need supports under chin and monocle.
- Strength tip: To maximize hook strength, orient the hook so its curve layers run along the load direction (rotate 90°) — this places layer interfaces parallel to the hook curvature and reduces shear failures.
- Supports: Required under the monocle, under the chin/neck overhangs, and inside the hook depending on orientation. Use tree supports or breakaway supports accessible from non-visible surfaces.
- Bed adhesion: Brim recommended for larger prints; use heated bed and adhesion method suitable for your filament.
Recommended SLA (resin) print settings
- Layer height: 25–50 µm for finest wrinkles and rivet detail.
- Orientation: Slightly tilted (10–30°) to reduce large flat support contact areas on the face; place supports on rear surfaces.
- Supports: Light-touch supports on non-visible rear/back surfaces; avoid supports directly on rivets or eye details when possible.
- Post processing: Wash and cure per resin manufacturer instructions; sand and prime before painting.
