Description

3D model history

Directed by Tim Burton, Batman 1989 was the first installment of the Batman film series. Having witnessed his parents’ murder as a child, millionaire Bruce Wane (played by Michael Keaton) devotes his life to fighting crime in Gotham City. Bruce hides his secret identity, nobody knows who conceals himself behind the mask of Batman. The superhero, who seeks justice against criminals has to fight his arch-enemy, maddened and eccentric Joker and protect his love.

Inspired by the all-time favourite superhero, our contributing 3D artists created this amazing model of Batman 1989 for 3D printing. The design has two stylised platforms - Batcave and Bat-Signal, featuring the secret headquarters of Batman and his famous distress signal. The dark superhero can be displayed with or without the face mask, the second version depicts the performer of the role, Michael Keaton. This incredible 3D print model is a must for all fans of the best Batman movie!

I am printing several characters from this site, scaling from 1:8 to 1:6. This character states that it is 1:8 but it is considerably smaller than everything else I have built - darthvader, stormtooper etc. I didn't want to guess but can you confirm what the initial scale of the FDM model is?

Hello! Thank you for your question about scaling of the Batman 1989 3D model!

We checked the scale for this model, and it’s indeed correctly scaled. The solid Batman 1/16 SLS version measures 110 mm from head to toe, and when considering the platform of the boots, this matches well with the 109 mm calculated based on the actor’s real height.

For reference, the 1/8 FDM version is exactly twice the size of the 1/16 SLS version (we used the merged version for easier calculations). If you’re working on a 1/6 version and scaling up from the 1/8 FDM files, then a 133% scale is what you’ll need for your files.
Here’s the converter we used for all our calculations, and below are the pictures for additional reference:
https://www.scalemodelersworld.com/online-scale-converter-tool.html

The difference may appear more noticeable because Darth Vader’s height is 2 m, whereas Michael Keaton is 1.75 m — this might have caught your eye during scaling.

If you need any further assistance or advice on scaling, feel free to let us know — we’ll be happy to help!
