Description

ABOUT THIS 3D MODEL

Freddie Mercury was a legendary British singer and a lead vocalist of the rock band Queen. Regarded as one of the greatest lead singers in the history of rock music, he is said to have had a four-octave vocal range with a very unique tone. And you don’t have to be a die-hard Queen fan to know the iconic performance the band gave in 1985 at London's Wembley Stadium. The Live Aid benefit concert aimed at raising funds for relief of the ongoing Ethiopian famine assembled the biggest talents in music of that time and Freddie Mercury's performance is almost unanimously considered to be the greatest of all. The author of the 3D printing model was also obviously fascinated by the musician’s unique performance and spent 120 hours to create the figurine of Freddie Mercury that any willing fan can print for an own Queen collection. The singer is depicted in one of his most famous rage poses with the trademark “bottomless mic” raised high. As expected, Freddy Mercury is dressed in a tank top, tight pair of jeans, wearing a studded armband around his biceps. The singer whose influence on the world’s culture and musical legacy he left after his untimely death can hardly ever be overestimated and we are sure that having a Freddie Mercury figurine on anyone’s bookshelf will be a pleasure!

ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING

Freddie Mercury figurine for 3D printing is a static assembly model and its moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took Gambody team 40 hours in total. Figurine’s anatomy was thoroughly reviewed during the moderation process for the legendary British musician to be depicted harmoniously in the intended rage pose. The model’s cutting was chosen by our team to minimise the amount of filament needed for generated support and some of the parts were hollowed out for you to save resin in the model’s Eco version. Moreover, in order to conceal places where assembly parts of the model must be connected, the figurine was cut along the contour of Freddie Mercury clothes seams. For you to receive the cleanest result possible such smaller parts as a microphone, boom, microphone clip and singer’s shoes are provided as separate files. All the assembly parts are provided in STL files in recommended positions that were worked out so to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and that the 3D printing beginners won't face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate.

The figurine is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The model's scale was calculated from Freddie Mercury's actual height that is 1770 mm. The 3D printing figurine's chosen scale is 1/8 for the FFF/FDM version and 1/16 for the DLP/SLA/SLS versions.
