3D model history
The German futuristic dystopia Metropolis of Fritz Lang is widely regarded as one of the most influential films ever made and served as a basis for numerous cinematographic and artistic works in the XX-XXI centuries. Maria, the love interest of the main character, Freder Frederson, is a lower-class girl in Metropolis, the city of skyscrapers, reigned by wealthy industrialists and magnates, who represents the hopes and dreams of the workers. Robot Maria was created by an inventor Rotwang who intended to recreate his ideal woman, Hel, the mother of Freder. Robot Maria symbolizes the demonic opposite of Maria herself, the mission of the robot is to cause chaos and to undermine Maria's influence over the workers.
The phenomenal character from Metropolis inspired our talented 3D artist to create the model for 3D printing that will be as close to the original as possible. The robot has the shape of a woman, its face looks like a human face with eyes, nose and mouth. An outstanding facial feature is the eyes of Maria with the tiny pupils making the character look preprogrammed and vicious. The body consists of the skeleton and “armour” attached with rivets and bolts, the surface engravings emphasize the elegance of the robot’s figure. Maria, which is depicted standing still, as if frozen, embodies a purely mechanical being, with no sign of human spirit. The desogm of Robot Maria with the city of Metropolis behind is a great choice for admirers of classics and genuine art!
