Description

3D model history

The USS Cygnus Probe Ship is the vessel of desperation in The Black Hole. Unlike the massive, skeletal USS Cygnus, this compact space vehicle was designed for a clear purpose: close-range research near the black hole's event horizon. After the destruction of the USS Palomino, this small ship became the sole escape route for the surviving crew, including Captain Holland, Dr. McCrae, and the heroic robots V.I.N.CENT and Old B.O.B. Their freedom was short-lived, however. The ship, controlled by the "insane will" of Dr. Reinhardt and threatened by the menacing Maximilian robot, became the final, unwilling carrier for the crew's journey into the singularity.

Inspired by this pivotal ship from The Black Hole, this Cygnus Probe Ship 3D model brings that intense cinematic moment to life. Designed as a premium 3D printed spaceship model, it stands as a fantastic example of a sci-fi spaceship design. The model features a movable cockpit and comes in two versions: a primary display piece and an add-on scaled to dock with the USS Cygnus. This versatility allows Black Hole 3D models collectors to recreate the dramatic context of this vital spacecraft, offering a tangible piece of cinematic history.

3D printing model features

Model-specific features:

  • Inspired by The Black Hole, this model captures the utilitarian design of the USS Cygnus Probe Ship, the final escape vehicle in the classic sci-fi film.
  • The cockpit is movable, designed to rotate for dynamic display options.
  • Includes channels and space for optional LED illumination of the cockpit and the main engine thruster, allowing you to bring this spacecraft to life.
  • The model comes as a primary standalone display version and a specialized Add-on version designed for use with the USS Cygnus 3D print model (sold separately).

Printing & assembly details:

  • Provided as error-free STL files compatible with most 3D printers;
  • Optimized part division minimizes support material and ensures smooth surface detail;
  • The assembly parts in the FFF/FDM version come in the recommended print orientations for easy bed placement;
  • Assembly manual in PDF and video formats is included for both FFF/FDM and DLP/SLA versions;
  • The model is available in recommended scales of 1:64 and 1:700 for the FFF/FDM printing, and 1:128 and 1:1400 for the DLP/SLA printing.
