ABOUT THIS 3D FIGURINE

Steven Grant Rogers is a super-soldier, a veteran of World War II and the world's first superhero better known as Captain America. As a result of a top-secret program known as the Project: Rebirth program the frail young man, Steve Rogers was transformed into a powerful soldier with superhuman capabilities. Having performed many feats during the war, Captain America sacrificed himself by sinking the plane full of weapons of mass destruction in the Arctic Ocean. That is where Steve Rogers was discovered frozen in ice by S.H.I.E.L.D. after nearly 70 years. Captain America awoke in present-day New York and having barely adjusted to the modern era became a part of the Avengers Initiative activated by Nick Fury. Cap’s appearance did undergo certain changes throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe development but there are some things that always remain unchanged and that the author of this 3D printing figurine skilfully depicted. Captain America is portrayed as if in the middle of the battle in his streamline uniform with stars and stripes motif, wielding circular shield made of vibranium and selflessly fighting for peace and justice. Steve Rogers’ infinite courage, righteousness and honest spirit hugely contributed to the whole team’s success and fortunately proved Cap worthy of his own happy endgame.

ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING

For all fans of Infinity Saga and MCU, Captain America figurine for 3D printing has two assembly variants to choose from. The FFF/FDM 1.0 version of the model features the first Avenger mounted on a big platform resembling the heated battle scene. In this version, the super-soldier is equipped only with his trademark shield. But as we all were surprised to observe in the Battle for Earth, Steve Rogers is indeed worthy to wield Thor's hammer Mjolnir against Thanos. So for you to depict the Endgame variant of Captain America, there is an FFF/FDM 1.1 version where the figurine is holding Mjolnir in his left hand and his shield in tatters in the right. Both versions you can find in the ‘Source files’ tab and see the way they look like and how they are divided into assembly parts in the photo preview section.

The model’s moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers was conducted by Gambody team. In order to conceal the places where assembly parts of the model must be connected, the figurine was cut along the contour of Steve Rogers’ suit seams. Also, for you to be able to easily choose between two alternative Cap variants, the figurine's parts from the FFF/FDM 1.0 version are the same as the ones with corresponding titles in the FFF/FDM 1.1. So in order to assemble the Endgame Steve Rogers you just need to print the new hand that holds Mjolnir. Depending on the background you want to display your Captain America in, there were designed two completely different platforms: the big explosion scene and a smaller battlefield-like one. All the assembly parts are provided in STL files in recommended positions that were worked out so to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and that the 3D printing beginners won't face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate.

The figurine is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The model's scale was calculated from Captain America's actual height that is 1880 mm. The 3D printing figurine's chosen scale is 1/8 for the FFF/FDM version and 1/16 for the DLP/SLA/SLS versions.

Below you can find printing recommendations for CuraSimplify3D and Slic3r software.

Cura printing recommendations:

These are basic settings that were tested in Cura 4.8.0 slicer.

The test models were printed on Ultimaker 2, Creality Ender 3, Creality CR-10S Pro V2, Anycubic I3 Mega, Anycubic I3 MegaS 3D printers with PLA and PETG filaments.

Disclaimer: The following printing settings are a recommendation, not an obligation. The parameters can vary depending on the peculiarities of your 3D printer, the material you use and especially the particular assembly part at hand. Each part that any model comprises often needs preliminary review and you are free to tweak the settings the way you find suitable.

Note:
- You can scale up the model (downscaling is not recommended!);
- All connectors should be printed at 100% Infill;
- For all parts of locks (“ge_lock” in “Source files”) you need to change "Brim" type to "Skirt" in Build Plate Adhesion section.
