Description

ABOUT THIS 3D MODEL

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy comedy science fiction franchise is known and loved by millions of people around the world. After the destruction of Earth, human protagonist Arthur Dent and alien travel writer Ford Prefect together with their companions, galactic president Zaphod Beeblebrox, an astrophysicist Trillian and an unhappy robot named Marvin, travel to the legendary planet named Magrathea on the sleekest and the most cutting-edge spaceship of the galaxy, the Heart of Gold.

Our contributing 3D artist was inspired by the distinctive design of the Heart of Gold creating this impressive model for 3D printing. The starship has an oblong shape and elongated body, the tiny window panels are beautifully arranged at the front side of the hull. The unique feature of the Heart of Gold is that the spacecraft is powered by the Infinite Improbability Drive, a small golden box at the heart of the ship. There are tunnels for LED lights that allow you to introduce lighting inside the cockpit and in the engine. Just imagine this stylish elaborate model in your collection! The Heart of Gold is a must for every connoisseur of beauty!

ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING

The Heart of Gold model for 3D printing is a static assembly model and its moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took the Gambody team 85 hours in total.

For you to receive the cleanest 3D printing result possible, minimize the amount of filament needed for generated support, and make use of the active elements designed by Gambody Engineers, the starship was divided into convenient assembly parts.

All assembly parts in the FFF/FDM 1.0 version are provided in STL files in recommended positions that were worked out in order to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and that the 3D printing beginners won’t face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate. When downloading any model’s file you will also receive “Assembly Manual” for FFF/FDM 1.0 and DLP/SLA 1.0 versions in PDF and video formats. We highly recommend that you get acquainted with the “Assembly Video” and “Assembly Manual” before getting down to the Heart of Gold 3D printing model.

The model is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The model’s scale was calculated from the length of the Heart of Gold. The 3D printing model’s chosen scales are 1:350 for the FFF/FDM version and 1:700 for the DLP/SLA version.

I think this build has more detail than the original studio model (LOL). It made me happy to find the Heart of Gold and now it sits with pride on my desk at work.

I actually scaled this one down to roughly 1:1000 and even though it's smallish even the tiny windows printed out well.
