ABOUT THIS 3D MODEL

The star of the Mad Max: Fury Road movie, the War Rig truck is a mutant monster vehicle that is impossible to imagine without its giant trailer. That’s why our contributing 3D artist decided to spend another 110 hours to recreate the War Rig Tanker in the form of a 3D model to go along with the spectacular War Rig Truck and Fuel Pod for 3D printing. The modified tanker is not just a reservoir to transport various liquid and gaseous commodities, but also an integral part of the fully armored war machine. The tanker’s rooftop serves as a platform that is perfect for launching attacks on the enemy forces and defending the vehicle against them. Specifically for that, two turrets made out of old cabin shells are welded onto the rooftop, the rear one being designed from a chopped Volkswagen Beetle. Twin flag poles adorned with chilling skulls are sticking out of the Beetle's roof. In the middle of a heated road war, the harpoon guns mounted on both turrets always come in handy. Protruding from the sides of the tanker, multiple acute circular saw blades serve as additional defensive constructions that can cut through the bodies of colliding vehicles. The hubs of the tanker, as well as the front and rear sides of its container, are armored with razor-sharp and slanted pieces of metal. The savage ways of the post-apocalyptic desert warriors are mirrored in the countless human skulls decorating the tanker’s exterior. The burning skull motif forged on the metal plate in the front part of the VW turret is the logo of the truck’s former owner - Immortan Joe. But now, with the help of a 3D printer, the beast-like vehicle can become your very own possession. Hurry up, the chase across the Wasteland promises to be mind-blowing!

ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING

War Rig Tanker 3D printing model is a highly-detailed assembly model and its moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took Gambody team 125 hours in total. In order to preserve the accurate likeness of the real-life tanker, as well as the modified movie War Rig Tanker, the model was divided into many parts that are to be assembled as if a real vehicle. To make sure that our customers’ War Rig 3D printing projects will be as true to life as possible, Gambody team equipped the model with an authentic active suspension. Thus, various special mechanisms were introduced into the Tanker to make sure that the parts comprising the suspension, as well as the details of the chassis and the wheels, are both realistic and highly functional (please, see "Versions' specifications", "Assembly video" and photo preview slider). Moreover, in order to stay true to the massive size of the Furiosa vehicle's main tanker, the model was divided into as many assembly parts as needed to ensure that it will fit any 3D printer's build plate. The cutting of the model was chosen to ensure the cleanest 3D printing result possible and to minimize the amount of material needed to print the generated support, e.g. Tanker’s water hose reel, flagpole parts, harpoon guns, decorative skulls and spikes, various elements of car-like turrets, spiky hubcaps, and many many more parts come as separate STL files. All assembly parts are provided in STL files in recommended positions that were worked out in order to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and so that the 3D printing beginners won't face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate. The model's assembly requires additional "pins" to secure the parts of the 3D printed Tanker. These pins do not come in STL files but can be made out of short pieces of regular 1.75 PLA. We highly recommend that you watch the "Assembly video" in the photo preview section before assembling the War Rig Tanker.

The model is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The model's scale was calculated from the actual length of the War Rig truck + main tanker which is 20432 mm. The 3D printing model's chosen scale is 1/16 for the FFF/FDM version.

VERSIONS SPECIFICATIONS

FFF/FDM 1.0 version features:
- Contains 99 parts;
- When printed the model stands 416 mm tall, 213 mm wide, 919 mm deep;
- Minimal recommended 3D printer build volume is 220 x 220 x 250 mm;
- Assembly kit includes lock 1_Ge_lock_10H_x131 to attach the model's parts securely without glue that needs to be printed 131 times;
- There are some assembly parts that need to be printed multiple times - the number of required copies (x2, x4 etc.) is indicated in the title of the file in "Source files", e.g. file "99_wheel_tire_b_x8" needs to be printed 8 times;
- A connector to couple up the Tanker to the War Rig Truck via the fifth wheel;
- Rotating gear bearings in all wheels;
Two variants of wheel tyre to choose from: one is meant for plastic filament, the other is hollow for flexible material;
- Highly detailed tanker, decorated with spikes, slanted sharp pieces of "metal", circular saw blades, skulls, a doll, rust effect, etc.;
- Two armored turrets are mounted on top of the tanker, the rear one is based on chopped VW Beetle;
- Hoist cables that run along the top of the tanker are fitted for 1.75mm PLA;
- The harpoon guns mounted on each turret, as well as flagpoles, are rotating;
- A thorough study of the original chassis (frame) assembly and the authentic active suspension of the Mad Max Tanker;
Brake pipe fasteners fitted for 1.75mm PLA (the brake pipe does not come with STL files);
- Active suspension of the back axle fitted with leaf springs + independent suspension of the rear wheels;
- Fully functional authentic water hose reel located underneath the chassis;
- We recommend that you watch the "Assembly video" before assembling the War Rig Tanker;
- All parts are divided in such a way that you will print them with the smallest number of support structures.

FFF/FDM (Old) version features:
- Comes in approximately 1:20 scale;
- Contains 99 parts;
- When printed stands 330 mm tall, 169 mm wide, 750 mm deep;
- The initial version of the War Rig model that was uploaded in an incorrect scale;
- These versions' features correspond with the ones of the FFF/FDM 1.0 version.

Below you can find printing recommendations for CuraSimplify3D and Slic3r software.

Cura printing recommendations:

These are basic settings that were tested in Cura 4.8.0 slicer.

The test models were printed on Ultimaker 2, Creality Ender 3, Creality CR-10S Pro V2, Anycubic I3 Mega, Anycubic I3 MegaS 3D printers with PLA and PETG filaments.

Disclaimer: The following printing settings are a recommendation, not an obligation. The parameters can vary depending on the peculiarities of your 3D printer, the material you use and especially the particular assembly part at hand. Each part that any model comprises often needs preliminary review and you are free to tweak the settings the way you find suitable.

Note:
- You can scale up the model (downscaling is not recommended!);
- All connectors should be printed at 100% Infill;
- For all parts of locks (“ge_lock” in “Source files”) you need to change "Brim" type to "Skirt" in Build Plate Adhesion section.
