Description

Version 1

Mech Warrior Catapult 3D model is a fictional combat vehicle that is extremely popular among the gamers fanbase due to the increased popularity of the video game itself. The action takes place in a BattleTech universe, with robotic vehicles taking part in battles. Players are free to customize their battle warrior as the game progresses. The fact that makes the game so interactive is that the player can add more powerful weapons and equipment to its large bipedal combat vehicle. This heavy warrior is known to hold the enemy far by raining down fire from its blistering amount of missile.

This MWO 3D print model for printing features all the game graphics, but with the 3D modeler’s own approach to the design. It consists of two arms, 1 mech module slot, 2 weapon module slots and 2 consumable module slots. The model is fully movable with articulated arms and legs. 2 missile launchers are positioned to the left and right of the warrior’s torso. The torso of our 3D model twists at 360°.

The assembly 3D model consists of 27 parts. The largest part is 90mm long/wide. All parts are no more than 122mm tall and designed to fit 18*19cm print bed. The model is optimized to be printed on all types of 3D printers: SLA/SLS and FFF. It is a High-Poly model made up of 741506 polygons, creating an accurate surface detailing.

The 3D printable files are available in STL file format. They have been thoroughly checked in Netfabb and have been created in CURA 15.06 and Repetier Host. All files measure 72.7MB.

Size of 3D printed MWO Catapult

The size of the model in assembly form is 143mm deep, 176 mm wide, and 250mm tall. The 3D modeler spent more than 100 hours to design this BattleMech Catapult model to perfection.

  1. All articulations have been modified, to ensure greater workability of the model.
  2. Torso has undergone several design modifications, to facilitate mounting of weapon add-ons which are available for download.
  3. Cabin has a new look now, featuring a front nose.
  4. The foot pedals have been made articulated as well.
  5. The upgraded Mech Warrior Catapult 3D model consists of 36 parts, as compared to the previous one, which was made of 27 parts.

Read the detailed description of the upgraded MWO 3D model, with pictures and tips about assembling.

Update 20.07.2016: The articulation mechanism for the Catapult joints has undergone some new modifications. Click HERE to see it and read how to assemble it correctly.

On 26.12.2016 the model files have been optimized and made solid. They now are adapted to be 3D printed using any slicing program. 3D model files are already available for purchase and download.

Version 3,4

On 01.11.2017 new scale and new version of joints have been added.

Now, the 3D Model of Catapult is available in two scale: 1/60 for Version 3 (FDM/FFF) and 1/100 for Version 4 (DLP/SLA/SLS).

There are 36 parts in Version 3 (FDM/FFF) and 8 parts for Version 4 (DLP/SLA/SLS).

Version 3 (FDM/FFF):
- Is 1:60 scale and after being printed will stand 257 mm tall, 172.5 mm wide, 149 mm deep;
- Made with new joints;
- All movable elements of the Mech were saved.

Version 4 (DLP/SLA/SLS):
- Is 1:100 scale and will stand 167 mm tall, 106 mm wide, 88 mm deep;
- Made with new joints;
- All movable elements of the Mech were saved;
- Has as few details as possible to keep printing costs down.

With new joints from Version 3 and Version 4 you will get next advantages:
1. Increases frictional force;
2. Possible to up scale or down scale the whole model;
3. Printable from any type of material;
4. Higher strength;
5. Material shrinkage does not affect at strength and friction.

STL files with new scale and new joints are already available for download in “Source files” tab for:
- Version 3 - STL files on FDM/FFF 3D printers;
- Version 4 - STL files on DLP/SLA/SLS 3D printers.

________________________

On 21.09.2018 new knee joints have been added.

Now the Catapult 3D model has new, more durable knee joints to improve the model’s stability. They reliably fix and allow changing the model’s pose. Due to the improved durability, the joints do not wear off because of frequent changes in the model’s pose. The new knee joints are simpler to print and better fit the overall design and appearance of the model. They are also completely replaceable, and you don’t have to reprint the whole model to replace one of these parts.

Now this model contain parts of Locks. One part of Lock (37_Ge_lock_10H_(x4)) you need to print 4 times.

STL files with new joints are already available for download in “Source files” tab FFF/FDM 3.1 Version.

Printing Details
Important

To avoid printing issues and achieve the best quality, we highly recommend applying the following settings:

Generic

This model was tested in Cura 3.4.1 and printed on an Ultimaker 2 in PLA material. Below you can find printing recommendations for CuraSimplify3D and Slic3r softwares.

Cura printing recommendations:

Note:

- You can print new joints from Version 3 and Version 4 with 20-30% infill.
- With the new joints from Version 3 and Version 4 you can up scale or down scale the whole model.

- All parts of connectors should be printed at 100% infill.

Recommendations: For all parts of Locks you need to change "Brim" type to "Skirt" in Build Plate Adhesion section.

To avoid printing problems, we recommend the following settings:
