"These Romans are crazy!”

Obelix is a “well covered” and a slightly naive Gaul who searches the adventures together with his best friend Asterix and a little dog Dogmatix in the course of the brilliant comic book series. It is a well-known fact that Obelix fell into a cauldron of the Gauls' magic potion when he was a baby, hence the inexhaustible superhuman strength! We are pretty sure that Obelix would gladly list “beating up Romans” as his second favourite hobby right after eating roast boar. The author of the Obelix vs Roman Legionary diorama for 3D printing chose to recreate one of such joyful incidents and spent circa 170 hours working on the project! The 3D printing scene depicts a mere instant after the kind-hearted Obelix delivered a mighty blow that is obviously powered by a fair amount of magic potion. The poor Legionary momentarily felt the ground slipping away from under his feet and the 3D artist decided to convey that sound by adding the comic book customary “PAF” effect. Menhir deliveryman for 3D printing is depicted as unfazed by the whole situation as ever. The author of the model made sure to dress the figurine in Obelix’s trademark enormous trousers and fixed the pants with a wide belt. As expected, the tiny helmet on the Gaul’s head reveals the figurine’s nice braided hair with cute bows tied to the ends. The face of the terrified Roman Legionary for 3D printing is so swollen, he can barely keep his eyes open! The diorama’s platform is complemented with nice attributes that any fan of the Asterix franchise would surely love to work on. Legionary’s spear and shield (that is also known as a scutum) are stuck into the ground as not needed. Roman’s sandal-boots that were left stuck to the ground emphasize the comic effect - what a blow that must have been! Obelix vs Roman Legionary is a 3D printing diorama that will rejoice the cartoon fans of all ages - do not hesitate to embark on the fun project!


Obelix vs Roman Legionary figurines for 3D printing in diorama is a static assembly model and its moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took Gambody team 38 hours in total. Both figurines’ anatomy was reviewed during the moderation process for the cartoon heroes to be depicted harmoniously and proportionate in the intended scene. The diorama’s cutting was chosen by our team to minimize the amount of filament needed for generated support and some of the parts were hollowed out for you to save resin in the model’s Eco version. In order to conceal the places where the assembly parts of the model must be connected, the figurines were cut along the contour of both characters’ clothes and armour seams. What is more, in order to ensure an excellent quality of the 3D printed and assembled result, such individual elements as Obelix’s boots, Legionary’s sandals, “PAF” effect, the shaft and pointed head of the spear, Legionary’s shield etc. are provided as separate assembly elements. The large round platform was divided into four parts in order to fit the build plates of the smallest 3D printers. All the assembly parts come in STL files in recommended positions that were worked out in order to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and to make sure that the 3D printing beginners won't face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate. When downloading any model's file you will also receive "Assembly Manual" for FFF/FDM 1.0 and DLP/SLA 1.0 versions in PDF format.

The figurine is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The model's scale was calculated from Obelix's actual height that is 1960 mm. The 3D printing figurines' chosen scale is 1/8 for the FFF/FDM version and 1/16 for the DLP/SLA/SLS versions.


FFF/FDM 1.0 version features:
- Contains 24 parts;
- A printed model is 330 mm tall, 325 mm wide, 325 mm deep
- Assembly kit includes lock 24_ge_lock_10H(x15) to connect the model's parts securely without glue that needs to be printed 15 times;
- The author of the model suggests that the Legionary can be optionally fixed with a 6mm plexiglass (acrylic) rod;
- All parts are divided in such a way that you will print them with the smallest number of support structures.

DLP/SLA 1.0 version features:
- Contains 14 parts;
- A printed model is 165 mm tall, 163 mm wide, 163 mm deep;
- The author of the model suggests that the Legionary can be optionally fixed with a 6mm plexiglass (acrylic) rod;
- All parts are divided in such a way to fit the build plates and to ensure that support structures are generated where needed.

DLP/SLA Eco 1.0 version features:
- Contains 14 parts;
- A printed model is 165 mm tall, 163 mm wide, 163 mm deep;
- The author of the model suggests that the Legionary can be optionally fixed with a 6mm plexiglass (acrylic) rod;
- Contains some hollowed out parts to save resin.

SLS 1.0 version features:
- Made as a solid one-piece figurine;
- A printed model is 165 mm tall, 163 mm wide, 163 mm deep;
- Contains 3 parts - one-piece Obelix figurine and a Roman Legionary figurine with the platform separated.
