Bagan is a remarkable kaiju that, quite surprisingly, gained his popularity as a monster who never made it into the movies! In the hands of numerous creators and ingenious character designers, Bagan took various appearances that bore resemblance to prehistoric reptiles mixed with an ape, fish, elephant and even devilish creatures. In one of the scrapped scenarios, Bagan was meant to take the guise of an ancient demonic beast or a dragon that was sealed away in the Himalayas but was ultimately reawakened as a result of global warming. Then, he was destined to face the goddess of peace Mothra in a brutal confrontation that left him defeated and put an end to his reign of terror. Specifically for this movie installation, talented Yasushi Nirasawa worked out a concept that would fully convey Bagan’s otherworldly nature and barbarous power. Nirasawa’s interpretation of the kaiju became a huge source of inspiration for our contributing 3D artist who poured his heart into translating this idea into a model for 3D printing. In the Bagan Alternative 3D Printing Figurine, the monster takes his ultimate form. The monster’s face is riven with animalistic rage as he bares the rows of his in a threat. His muscular, bulky body is ravaged with scales, protective chitinous patches and speary spikes. Bagan’s body then melts into a long, pointy tail that would be just as powerful in a fight as his other clawed limbs. On the sides of his arms, Bagan’s tattered at the edges leathery wings are attached. Now, all the fury of this ancient beast can be harmlessly displayed among your kaiju 3D printing collection!

Bagan is a static assembly figurine and its moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took Gambody team 57 hours in total. The impressively detailed figurine in its assembly version was divided into as many assembly parts as needed to fit even the smallest 3D printers' build plates and for you to receive a huge 3D printed piece after assembly. The cutting of Bagan figurine was chosen by our team to minimise the amount of filament needed for generated support and some of the model’s parts were hollowed out for you to save resin in the model’s Eco version. For you to achieve the cleanest 3D printed result, Bagan’s feet, hands, tail, wings etc. are provided as separate STL files. The long horns from the kaiju’s head and his claws have also been separated. The model’s platform was divided into sixteen parts to fit the build plates of the average 3D printers. All assembly parts are provided in STL files in recommended positions that were worked out to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and that the 3D printing beginners won't face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate. When downloading any figurine's file you will also receive "Assembly Manual" for FFF/FDM 1.0 and DLP/SLA 1.0 versions in PDF format.

The figurine is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The model's scale was calculated from Bagan's height that is 150000 mm. The 3D printing figurine's chosen scale is 1:250 for the FFF/FDM version and 1:500 for the DLP/SLA/SLS versions.

FFF/FDM 1.0 version features:
- Contains 58 parts;
- A printed model is 610 mm tall, 481 mm wide, 562 mm deep;
- The assembly kit includes locks to connect the model's parts securely without glue. Lock 57_ge_lock_7S(x3) needs to be printed 3 times; lock 58_ge_lock_10H(x144) needs to be printed 144 times
- All parts are divided in such a way that you will print them with the smallest number of support structures.

DLP/SLA 1.0 version features:
- Contains 20 parts;
- A printed model is 305 mm tall, 241 mm wide, 281 mm deep;
- All parts are divided in such a way to fit the build plates and to ensure that support structures are generated where needed.

DLP/SLA Eco 1.0 version features:
- Contains 20 parts;
- A printed model is 305 mm tall, 241 mm wide, 281 mm deep;
- Contains some hollowed out parts to save resin.

SLS 1.0 version features:
- Made as solid one-piece figurine;
- A printed model is 305 mm tall, 241 mm wide, 281 mm deep;
- Contains 2 parts - a one-piece Bagan Alternative figurine with the platform separated.

- STL files of Bagan Alternative 3D printing figurine which consist of 100 parts;
- 4 versions of files for this model for FFF/FDM, DLP/SLA, DLP/SLA Eco and SLS;
- High-poly detailed figurine of Bagan Alternative;
Assembly Manual for FFF/FDM 1.0 and DLP/SLA 1.0 versions in PDF format;
- Detailed settings that we provide as a recommendation for Cura, Simplify3D and Slic3r for the best print;
- Full technical support from the Gambody Support Team.

Below you can find printing recommendations for CuraSimplify3D and Slic3r softwares.

Cura printing recommendations:

These are basic settings that were tested in Cura 4.8.0 slicer.

The test models were printed on Ultimaker 2, Creality Ender 3, Creality CR-10S Pro V2, Anycubic I3 Mega, Anycubic I3 MegaS 3D printers with PLA and PETG filaments.

Disclaimer: The following printing settings are a recommendation, not an obligation. The parameters can vary depending on the peculiarities of your 3D printer, the material you use and especially the particular assembly part at hand. Each part that any model comprises often needs preliminary review and you are free to tweak the settings the way you find suitable.

- You can scale up the model (downscaling is not recommended!);
- All connectors should be printed at 100% Infill;
- For all parts of locks (“ge_lock” in “Source files”) you need to change "Brim" type to "Skirt" in Build Plate Adhesion section.
