The Chernobyl nuclear disaster is deemed to be the world's worst nuclear power plant accident. The explosion at the No. 4 nuclear reactor on April 26, 1986, released substantial amounts of radioactive contamination into the atmosphere making many villages of Ukraine and Belarus an exclusion zone for many years to come. “What is the cost of lies?” The 2019 television miniseries “Chernobyl” produced by HBO retold the terrifying 1986 disaster and achieved unprecedented success for a miniseries. The five-part story got the attention of large audiences in different parts of the world paying homage to heroes who gave their lives as a sacrifice during cleanup efforts. Being immensely impressed by the series, one of our contributing 3D artists decided to pick up a thematic project, drawing inspiration from the show’s poster. The author of the Liquidator figurine for 3D printing mentioned that the preparation of the scene took him approximately 210 hours to complete. The 3D printing model depicts a man in an NBC suit and an overall coat who is spraying sticky decontamination fluid trying to fix the radiation to the ground. The Liquidator is wearing a gas mask, tank sprayer and has a strapped bag with him. The grim 3D printing scene unfolds as if in the middle of the radioactive playground, abandoned by its frequent visitors mere hours ago. There is also a shield with the international radiation symbol stuck into the ground behind the Liquidator as a reminder that the surrounding area is flooded with deadly radiation. Chernobyl catastrophe that is considered to be the worst man-made disaster in history had a huge impact on our world and should never be forgotten. Thanks to the efforts of our contributing 3D artist now the collective image of heroic Chernobyl Liquidators can be displayed on your shelf!


Chernobyl Liquidator figurine for 3D printing is a static assembly model and its moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took Gambody team 56 hours in total. Figurine’s anatomy was thoroughly reviewed during the moderation process for the brave man to be depicted harmoniously in his overall coat and the intended pose. The model’s cutting was chosen by our team to minimise the amount of filament needed for generated support and some of the parts were hollowed out for you to save resin in the figurine’s Eco version. For you to receive the cleanest result possible the pulveriser that Liquidator is holding was extracted from both hands and provided as a separate part, the strapped bag was “taken off” the figurine as well as a tank that the man is wearing on his back. In order to conceal the places where the assembly parts of the model must be connected, the figurine was cut along the contour of its suit seams, the boots were “extracted” and all straps and belts separated. What is more, in order to ensure an excellent quality of the 3D printed result, such finer parts as Liquidator’s gas mask, filter, hood, bag, sprayer hose, pulveriser, radiation shield, tank, tractor toy etc. are provided as separate parts as well. All the assembly parts come in STL files in recommended positions that were worked out in order to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and so that the 3D printing beginners won't face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate. When downloading any figurine's file you will also receive "Assembly Manual" for FFF/FDM 1.0 and DLP/SLA 1.0 versions in PDF format.

The figurine is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The model's scale was calculated from the average height of a man that is 1780 mm. The 3D printing figurine's chosen scale is 1/8 for the FFF/FDM version and 1/16 for the DLP/SLA/SLS versions.


FFF/FDM 1.0 version features:
- Contains 27 parts;
- A printed model is 235 mm tall, 212 mm wide, 216 mm deep;
- Assembly kit includes lock 27_ge_lock_7S(x9) to attach the model's parts securely without glue that needs to be printed 9 times;
- Made with a platform to resemble the abandoned radioactive playground;
- All parts are divided in such a way that you will print them with the smallest number of support structures.

DLP/SLA 1.0 version features:
- Contains 14 parts;
- A printed model is 118 mm tall, 106 mm wide, 108 mm deep;
- Made with a platform to resemble the abandoned radioactive playground;
- All parts are divided in such a way to fit the build plates and to ensure that support structures are generated where needed.

DLP/SLA Eco 1.0 version features:
- Contains 14 parts;
- A printed model is 118 mm tall, 106 mm wide, 108 mm deep;
- Made with a platform to resemble the abandoned radioactive playground;
- Contains some hollowed out parts to save resin.

SLS 1.0 version features:
- Made as a solid one-piece figurine;
- A printed model is 118 mm tall, 106 mm wide, 108 mm deep;
- Contains 3 parts - a one-piece model and Liquidator figurine with the platform separated.
