ABOUT THIS 3D FIGURINE

Ellie is a young and exceptionally strong girl whose coming of age story one could follow in the course of the post-apocalyptic video game The Last of Us. Together with Joel, a smuggler assigned to babysit the girl, they fought for their lives and created a firm bond. As it is clear from the girl’s outfit, the author of Ellie figurine for 3D printing was mainly drawing inspiration from the winter chapter of the video game. It has taken the 3D artist 193 hours in total in order to create a 3D printing figurine of a young and brave Ellie as if in the middle of her hunt for food stalking a deer in the woods. The figurine is depicted in girl’s usual winter clothes - Ellie is wearing a flannel and a thin winter coat. Her backpack is filled with spare arrows and is decorated with girl’s trademark keychain in the form of one-eyed monster. The amusing little accessory is waiting to be painted purple! The 3D printing adventurer looks extremely determined and is holding the bow in readiness - there must be some valuable prey hiding nearby. What is more, Ellie figurine is depicted standing on a platform for you to recreate the post-apocalyptic environment the girl was growing up in. There is a flat tyre half-buried in a snowdrift and a barrel that you can display either with fire inside or covered with a lid. We are pretty sure you think the platform is a tad too big for a lone girl. Right you are because there is Joel figurine for 3D printing coming for you to depict Ellie together with her friend and protector, hence completing The Last of Us diorama!

ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING

Ellie figurine for 3D printing is a static assembly model and its moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took Gambody team 57 hours in total. Figurine’s anatomy was thoroughly reviewed during the moderation process for the young girl to be depicted harmoniously in the intended hunting pose. The model’s cutting was chosen by our team to minimise the amount of filament needed for generated support and some of the parts were hollowed out for you to save resin in the model’s Eco version. Moreover, in order to conceal places where assembly parts of the model must be connected, the figurine was cut along the contour of Ellie’s winter clothes seams. For you to achieve the cleanest result possible such smaller parts as figurine’s ponytail, boots, arrows, bow, backpack and the one-eyed monster keychain that is attached to it are provided as separate files. All the assembly parts come in STL files in recommended positions that were worked out so to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and that the 3D printing beginners won't face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate.  

The figurine is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The model's scale was calculated from Ellie's actual height that is 1600 mm. The 3D printing figurine's chosen scale is 1/8 for the FFF/FDM version and 1/16 for the DLP/SLA/SLS versions.

VERSIONS' SPECIFICATIONS

FFF/FDM 1.0 version features:
- Contains 26 parts;
- A printed model is 218 mm tall, 234 mm wide, 242 mm deep;
- Assembly kit includes lock 26_ge_lock_10H(x12) to attach the model's parts securely without glue that needs to be printed 12 times;
- Made with a platform to recreate the winter chapter of The Last of Us with Joel;
- All parts are divided in such a way that you will print them with the smallest number of support structures.

DLP/SLA 1.0 version features:
- Contains 13 parts;
- A printed model is 109 mm tall, 117 mm wide, 121 mm deep;
- Made with a platform to recreate the winter chapter of The Last of Us with Joel;
- All parts are divided in such a way to fit the build plates and to ensure that support structures are generated where needed.

DLP/SLA Eco 1.0 version features:
- Contains 13 parts;
- A printed model is 109 mm tall, 117 mm wide, 121 mm deep;
- Made with a platform to recreate the winter chapter of The Last of Us with Joel;
- Contains some hollowed out parts to save resin.

SLS 1.0 version features:
- Made as a solid one-piece figurine;
- A printed model is 109 mm tall, 117 mm wide, 121 mm deep;
- Contains 3 parts - one-piece Ellie figurine and two variants of the platform - with fire in the barrel and without.
