ABOUT THIS 3D FIGURINE

As envisioned by genius director Hideaki Anno, Godzilla Resurgence follows the path that pays homage to the roots of the kaiju franchise and takes a completely original turn. In the 2016 movie instalment, the new Godzilla evolves from a small sea creature affected by nuclear waste. Overcoming tremendous pain and constantly transforming, the monster crawls inland to destroy everything in its path and avenge its tragic faith. But it seems like its story did not end there!

Our contributing 3D artist decided to take his own creative liberty and imagine one of Godzilla’s further evolution stages, depicting it in the Mutant Shin Godzilla 3D printing figurine. Per the author’s idea, the highly detailed giant lizard for 3D printing sheds its previous form like old skin, parts of it remaining lifelessly on the Godzilla’s body. The monster’s dorsal plates elongate and cover the whole length of its enormous tail, and the limbs develop into dangerously massive ones. No kaiju fan will remain indifferent!

ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING

Mutant Shin Godzilla figurine for 3D printing is a static assembly model and its moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took Gambody team 70 hours.

The model’s cutting was chosen by our team to minimise the amount of generated support and some of the parts were hollowed out for you to save resin in the model’s Eco version. The highly-detailed figurine in its assembly version was divided into as many assembly parts as needed to fit even the smallest 3D printers’ build plates and for you to receive a huge 3D printed piece after assembly. For you to achieve the cleanest 3D printed result, Godzilla’s head, torso, limbs, claws, numerous dorsal plates, tail, etc. are provided as separate assembly parts.

All assembly parts come in STL files in recommended positions that were worked out in order to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and so that the 3D printing beginners won’t face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate.

The figurine is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The model's scale was calculated from Shin Godzilla's approximate height which is 118500 mm. The 3D printing figurine's chosen scale is 1:250 for the FFF/FDM version and 1:500 for the DLP/SLA/SLS versions.

Below you can find printing recommendations for CuraSimplify3D and Slic3r software.

Cura printing recommendations:

These are basic settings that were tested in Cura 4.8.0 slicer.

The test models were printed on Ultimaker 2, Creality Ender 3, Creality CR-10S Pro V2, Anycubic I3 Mega, Anycubic I3 MegaS 3D printers with PLA and PETG filaments.

Disclaimer: The following printing settings are a recommendation, not an obligation. The parameters can vary depending on the peculiarities of your 3D printer, the material you use and especially the particular assembly part at hand. Each part that any model comprises often needs preliminary review and you are free to tweak the settings the way you find suitable.

Note:
- You can scale up the model (downscaling is not recommended!);
- All connectors should be printed at 100% Infill;
- For all parts of locks (“ge_lock” in “Source files”) you need to change "Brim" type to "Skirt" in Build Plate Adhesion section.
