ABOUT THIS 3D FIGURINE

I would gladly bear any curse to save my homeland.

Arthas Menethil, Crown Prince of Lordaeron and Knight of the Silver Hand, was a young man with a promising future surrounded by nothing but Light and great victories. Little did his people know that the righteous prince was about to follow the path of darkness and lose his soul to the curse in pursuit of power. And still, the image of youthful prince Arthas and his tragic fate will forever reside in the hearts of the fans!

With an utter fascination with the conflicting WoW character, our contributing 3D artist dedicated 180 hours to sculpting the Paladin of the Silver Hand. In his highly detailed Arthas 3D Printing Figurine, the author fully conveyed the strength of the prince, the brutal might of his elaborate armour, and the determined spirit of the man. And to depict different stages of the hero's journey, the artist equipped him with the Light’s Vengeance hammer and Frostmourne sword that you can choose from!

ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING

Arthas figurine for 3D printing is a static assembly model and its moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took Gambody team 55 hours. The figurine’s anatomy and proportions were thoroughly reviewed during the moderation process for the armoured paladin to be depicted harmoniously in the intended pose.

The model’s cutting was chosen by our team to minimise the amount of generated support and some of the parts were hollowed out for you to save resin in the Eco version. In order to conceal the places where the assembly parts of the model must be connected, the figurine was cut along the contour of the Arthas’ armour seams.

For you to achieve the cleanest 3D printed result, the figurine’s cloth fragments, cloak, spellbook, bracers, shoulder plates, knee braces, etc. are provided as separate assembly parts. Moreover, to ensure the convenient assembly of the figurine, Light’s Vengeance hammer and Frostmourne sword were split as well.

All assembly parts come in STL files in recommended positions that were worked out in order to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and so that the 3D printing beginners won't face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate. When downloading any figurine's file you will also receive "Assembly Manual" for FFF/FDM 1.0 and DLP/SLA 1.0 versions in PDF format.

The figurine is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The model's scale was calculated from Arthas' actual height which is 2120 mm. The 3D printing figurine's chosen scale is 1:8 for the FFF/FDM version and 1:16 for the DLP/SLA/SLS versions.

VERSIONS' SPECIFICATIONS

FFF/FDM 1.0 version features:
- Contains 42 parts;
- A printed model is 285 mm tall, 355 mm wide, 354 mm deep;
- The assembly kit includes locks 41_ge_lock_7S(x4) and 42_ge_lock_10H(x7) to attach the model's parts securely without glue that need to be printed 4 and 7 times respectively;
- In his left hand, Arthas can hold either Light’s Vengeance hammer or Frostmourne sword;
- All parts are divided in such a way that you will print them with the smallest number of support structures.

DLP/SLA 1.0 version features:
- Contains 26 parts;
- A printed model is 143 mm tall, 178 mm wide, 177 mm deep;
- In his left hand, Arthas can hold either Light’s Vengeance hammer or Frostmourne sword;
- All parts are divided in such a way to fit the build plates and to ensure that support structures are generated where needed.

DLP/SLA Eco 1.0 version features:
- Contains 26 parts;
- A printed model is 143 mm tall, 178 mm wide, 177 mm deep;
- In his left hand, Arthas can hold either Light’s Vengeance hammer or Frostmourne sword;
- Contains some hollowed out parts to save resin.

DLP/SLA Pre-supported 1.0 version features:
- Contains 26 parts;
- A printed model is 143 mm tall, 178 mm wide, 177 mm deep;
- The STL files that this version comprises are pre-supportedhollowed out, and have drain holes where needed;
- You may choose to print the STL files one by one or several at once, depending on the dimensions of your resin 3D printer's build plate;
- When slicing several STL files at once, the attachment layers (Platform Touch Shape) may overlap, but the supports must not come into contact.

SLS 1.0 version features:
- Made as a solid one-piece Arthas figurine;
- A printed model is 143 mm tall, 178 mm wide, 177 mm deep;
- Contains 5 parts - a solid Arthas figurine and the model with the platform separated.

How to set up my 3D printer?
How to choose right 3D model print bed positioning?
How to paint printed figurine?

Below you can find printing recommendations for CuraSimplify3D and Slic3r software.

Cura printing recommendations:

These are basic settings that were tested in Cura 4.8.0 slicer.

The test models were printed on Ultimaker 2, Creality Ender 3, Creality CR-10S Pro V2, Anycubic I3 Mega, Anycubic I3 MegaS 3D printers with PLA and PETG filaments.

Disclaimer: The following printing settings are a recommendation, not an obligation. The parameters can vary depending on the peculiarities of your 3D printer, the material you use and especially the particular assembly part at hand. Each part that any model comprises often needs preliminary review and you are free to tweak the settings the way you find suitable.

Note:
- You can scale up the model (downscaling is not recommended!);
- All connectors should be printed at 100% Infill;
- For all parts of locks (“ge_lock” in “Source files”) you need to change "Brim" type to "Skirt" in Build Plate Adhesion section.
