3D MODEL HISTORY

The Space Pod first appeared in Season 3 of the 1965 Lost in Space TV series as a compact, spherical shuttle tucked inside the Jupiter 2 spacecraft. Equal parts futuristic space capsule and retro sci-fi icon, this Space Pod was inspired by NASA's Apollo LEM and gave the Robinsons a nimble way to land, explore, and rescue beyond their main vessel. Its cheeky "non-Euclidean" fit aboard the disk-shaped ship only added to its charm among iconic sci-fi vehicles.

This 3D printable Space Pod brings that legacy into your hands as a detailed spaceship pod STL file. The highly detailed cockpit supports fiber optics or LED lighting with a built-in double-wall structure. The rear hatch opens on functional hinges, the top antenna rotates, and both control panel and engine are ready for illumination. A scaled-down version is also included for docking with your Jupiter 2 3D print, completing your ultimate Lost in Space display and bringing this classic duo to life.

3D PRINTING MODEL FEATURES

Model-specific features:

  • Compatible with the Jupiter 2 3D print model (sold separately);
  • Includes two hull options: with lettering or plain surface;
  • Windows come as separate parts and can be printed with transparent material;
  • Cockpit features high detailing and a double-wall structure, allowing for manual fiber optic routing and advanced lighting setups;
  • Control panel and engine designed for optional LED illumination;
  • Rear hatch opens on functional hinges;
  • Top antenna rotates;
  • Includes a scaled-down Mini version of the Space Pod to dock with the Jupiter 2 3D print model (sold separately);

Printing & assembly details:

  • Provided as error-free STL files compatible with most 3D printers;
  • Optimized part division minimizes support material and ensures smooth surface detail;
  • The assembly parts in the FFF/FDM version come in the recommended print orientations for easy bed placement;
  • Assembly manual in PDF and video formats is included for both FFF/FDM and DLP/SLA versions;
  • The model is available in recommended scales of 1:16 for the FFF/FDM version and 1:32 for the DLP/SLA version, based on the 3.3-meter height of the Space Pod.

Below you can find printing recommendations for Cura, Bambu Studio, Simplify3D, Slic3r and PrusaSlicer software.

Disclaimer: The following printing settings are a recommendation, not an obligation. The parameters can vary depending on the peculiarities of your 3D printer, the material you use, and especially the particular assembly part you are working with. Each part that any model comprises often needs preliminary review, and you are free to tweak the settings the way you find suitable.

Note:

You can scale up the model (downscaling for FFF/FDM 3D printers is not recommended!);

All connectors should be printed at 100% Infill.
