ABOUT THIS 3D MODEL

The Cyclops is an assault class BattleMech that weighs 90 tons and is known to be equipped with an arsenal built to handle almost any situation on the battlefield. The main distinctive feature of the Cyclops is its advanced electronics including the sophisticated holographic Tacticon B-2000 Battle Computer that significantly increases the sensor range of both the Cyclops and all friendly ‘Mechs nearby. The MWO fans single out this ‘Mech for its appearance, speed and relative toughness, noting that the Cyclops can inflict enough damage to take down even the heaviest of 'Mechs if aimed well.  So to prove the point, the author of this model for 3D printing depicted the BattleMech with all its assets that are indeed essential when protecting the field commanders in heavy situations. The 3D artist spent 72 hours for the 3D printing Cyclops to be equipped with a powerful LRM-10 missile launcher in the left torso and Zeus-36 Autocannon/20 mounted in the right torso. The former one is known to fire not one but 10 mighty long-range missiles and the latter one is able to cause massive damage within very short range! The 3D printing Cyclops is, of course, also equipped with its distinctive antennae on the top, being absolutely ready to join your 3D printed MechWarrior headquarters!

ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING

MWO Cyclops 3D printing model is an action assembly model and its moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took Gambody team 22 hours in total. The model’s cutting was chosen by our team to minimise the amount of filament needed for generated support. All the assembly parts are provided in STL files in recommended positions that were worked out so to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and that the 3D printing beginners won't face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate. To allow the Cyclops’ multidirectional movement and rotation the ball-and-socket joints and one-axis joints with lockers were introduced. The joints that ensure the Mech's movability are provided as separate files for you to be able to print them again if the joints' friction happens to lose rigidity. The LRM-10 missile launcher, Zeus-36 Autocannon as well as other armaments the Cyclops is equipped with are assembled in such a way that can be potentially replaced when the alternative Guns Pack for the Mech is released.

The model is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The model's scale was calculated from the Cyclops' actual height that is 17500 mm. The 3D printing model's chosen scale is 1/60 for the FFF/FDM version and 1/100 for the DLP/SLA/SLS versions.

VERSIONS' SPECIFICATIONS

FFF/FDM 1.0 version features:
- Contains 37 parts;
- A printed model is 346 mm tall, 251 mm wide, 170 mm deep;
- Made with several sets of special joints to ensure the model's articulation;
- Assembly kit includes locks to connect the parts without glue. One lock 23_Ge_lock_10H_x8 needs to be printed 8 times;
- All parts are divided in such a way that you will print them with the smallest number of support structures and so to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces.

DLP/SLA/SLS 1.0 version features:
- Contains 17 parts;
- A printed model is 207 mm tall, 151 mm wide, 102 mm deep;
- Made with special joints to ensure the model's articulation;
- All parts are divided in such a way to fit the build plates and to ensure that support structures are generated where needed.
