ABOUT THIS 3D MODEL

Gerry Anderson is famous for his futuristic television programs, in the 1960s and 1970s he filmed his well-known series including Thunderbirds, Space: 1999, UFO, Supercar, Fireball XL5, Stingray, Joe 90. Fireball XL5 is a science fiction television series showing the missions of Earth Spaceship Fireball XL5 commanded by Colonel Steve Zodiac. The patrol ship, belonging to the World Space Patrol is used by the Zodiac's crew and serves for defending Earth from interstellar threats.

Our contributing 3D artist put a lot of effort and dedication into the creation of this multi-functional spaceship. The design is made following the original appearance of the patrol boat in the television series. Fireball XL 5 has the shape of a rocket, the nose houses the cockpit, the hull contains several sections, and interstellar travel is enabled through the rocket motors. The craft is equipped with missiles hidden in the missile launchers; there is an option to install LEDs to light up the model. This iconic spaceship will bring a special charm to collections of all sci-fi lovers!

ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING

The Fireball XL5 model for 3D printing is a static assembly model and its moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took the Gambody team 93 hours in total.

For you to receive the cleanest 3D printing result possible, minimize the amount of filament needed for generated support, and make use of the active elements designed by Gambody Engineers, the vessel was divided into convenient assembly parts.

All assembly parts in the FFF/FDM 1.0 version are provided in STL files in recommended positions that were worked out in order to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and that the 3D printing beginners won’t face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate. When downloading any model’s file you will also receive “Assembly Manual” for FFF/FDM 1.0 and DLP/SLA 1.0 versions in PDF and video formats. We highly recommend that you get acquainted with the “Assembly Video” and “Assembly Manual” before getting down to the Fireball XL 5 3D printing model.

The model is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The model’s scale was calculated from the length of the Fireball XL5 which is 91440 mm. The 3D printing model’s chosen scales are 1:128 for the FFF/FDM version and 1:256 for the DLP/SLA version.
