This 3D model of Space Battleship Yamato consists of files in StereoLithography (.Stl) format that is optimized for 3D printing.

ABOUT THIS 3D MODEL

Space Battleship Yamato is considered one of the most influential anime series in Japan and has a lot of fans around the world. After the attack on the Earth of the evil alien race, Gamilons, the nations of Earth form the Earth Defense Force to get the Cosmo DNA which can help to protect the Earth from radiation damage, and Yamato battleship with powerful space warp drive is used by the crew of Earthlings for this mission to the planet Iscandar.

The model of Space Battleship Yamato presented by our contributing 3D artists is an example of great skill and dedication - the tremendous amount of work was made during the design of the legendary battleship and the result speaks for itself. The elongated hull of Yamato features a distinctive shape - while primarily inspired by the design of the lead ship of the Imperial Japanese Navy, the anime version is equipped with the Wave Motion Engine which, due to the peculiarities of the cutting of the model, can be illuminated together with the ship’s bridge and hull. The author paid special attention to the armament of Yamato - the model features different types of guns, all of them movable in the FFF/FDM version and with different gun angles for better presentation possibilities when printing on resin 3D printers. By exploring the files you will see that each texture on the surface of the model is thought out and each detail is taken into account making the model an example of outstanding engineering effort and a perfect choice for all fans of the fabulous spaceship!

ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING

The Space Battleship Yamato model for 3D printing is a static assembly model and its moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took the Gambody team 440 hours in total.

For you to receive the cleanest 3D printing result possible, minimize the amount of filament needed for generated support, and make use of the active elements designed by Gambody Engineers, the battleship was divided into convenient assembly parts.

All assembly parts in the FFF/FDM 1.0 version are provided in STL files in recommended positions that were worked out in order to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and that the 3D printing beginners won’t face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate. When downloading any model’s file you will also receive “Assembly Manual” for FFF/FDM 1.0 and DLP/SLA 1.0 versions in PDF and video formats. We highly recommend that you get acquainted with the “Assembly Video” and “Assembly Manual” before getting down to the Space Battleship Yamato 3D printing model.

The model is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The model’s scale was calculated from the length of the ship which is 266000. The 3D printing model’s chosen scales are 1:200 for the FFF/FDM version and 1:400 for the DLP/SLA version.

  • Contains 140 parts;
  • A printed model is 396 mm tall, 349 mm wide, 1329 mm deep;

  • The spherical turrets are movable;
  • The torpedo ports hatches are removable;
  • The anchors move;
  • The naval guns move;
  • The rear turrets are movable;
  • The bow part “ring” can be unused during the bow assembly;

  • 3 variants of nameplates;
  • There are tunnels for LED wiring to light up the engines and the bridge of the battleship;
  • All parts are divided in such a way that you will print them with the smallest number of support structures.

DLP/SLA 1.0 version features:

  • Contains 103 parts;
  • A printed model is 198 mm tall, 174 mm wide, 665 mm deep;
  • A printed model on the platform is: 203 mm tall, 174 mm wide, 665 mm deep;
  • The bow part “ring” can be unused during the bow assembly;
  • The wings are removable, there are plugs to close the holes;
  • The torpedo ports hatches are removable;
  • 2 variants of spherical turrets with different gun angles;

Disclaimer: The following printing settings are a recommendation, not an obligation. The parameters can vary depending on the peculiarities of your 3D printer, the material you use, and especially the particular assembly part you are working with. Each part that any model comprises often needs preliminary review, and you are free to tweak the settings the way you find suitable.

  • You can scale up the model (downscaling for FFF/FDM 3D printers is not recommended!);
