Description

ABOUT THIS 3D MODEL

In the final days of humanity The Scientist created nine Stitchpunks and gave each a portion of his soul in the hope they will spark off the life. Each Stitchpunk represents a different side of The Scientist’s personality. For example, 8 is the large and bulky “brawn over brains” portion of the creator’s soul who uses his strength and combat skills in the Machine War.

Our contributing 3D artist decided to embody the crude ruffian of the post-apocalyptic universe and drew inspiration from the movie poster that presented the Stitchpunk called 8. The 3D printing master of weapons is depicted pulling a scissor blade from the magnet on his back, ready to hurl it as a throwing knife. His main weapon - a huge kitchen knife is also attached to the magnet in case of a sudden encounter with a metal monster. The author of the figurine paid careful attention to many little stitches all over the rag doll’s body and nicely depicted 8’s distinctive metal collar-vest. Last but not least, the model comes with a stylised base for you to capture the atmosphere of the animated film on your display shelf!

ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING

8 Stitchpunk figurine for 3D printing is a static assembly model and its moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took Gambody team 32 hours. The figurine’s anatomy and proportions were thoroughly reviewed during the moderation process for the bulky rag doll to be depicted harmoniously in the intended pose.

The model’s cutting was chosen by our team to minimise the amount of generated support and some of the parts were hollowed out for you to save resin in the Eco version. In order to conceal the places where the assembly parts of the model must be connected, the figurine was cut along the contour of 8’s stitches. For you to achieve the cleanest 3D printed result, the figurine’s collar-vest, a magnet, a kitchen knife, a scissor blade, hands, feet, etc. are provided as separate assembly parts, while the platform is split into four parts for your convenience.

All assembly parts come in STL files of FFF/FDM version in recommended positions that were worked out in order to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and so that the 3D printing beginners won't face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate. When downloading any figurine's file you will also receive "Assembly Manual" for FFF/FDM 1.0 and DLP/SLA 1.0 versions in PDF format.

The figurine is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The model's scale was calculated from Stitchpunk's height which is 270 mm. The 3D printing figurine's chosen scale is 1:1 for the FFF/FDM version and 1:2 for the DLP/SLA/SLS versions.

Printing Details
Important

To avoid printing issues and achieve the best quality, we highly recommend applying the following settings:

Generic

Below you can find printing recommendations for CuraSimplify3D and Slic3r software.

Cura printing recommendations:

These are basic settings that were tested in Cura 4.8.0 slicer.

The test models were printed on Ultimaker 2, Creality Ender 3, Creality CR-10S Pro V2, Anycubic I3 Mega, Anycubic I3 MegaS 3D printers with PLA and PETG filaments.

Disclaimer: The following printing settings are a recommendation, not an obligation. The parameters can vary depending on the peculiarities of your 3D printer, the material you use and especially the particular assembly part at hand. Each part that any model comprises often needs preliminary review and you are free to tweak the settings the way you find suitable.

Note:
- You can scale up the model (downscaling is not recommended!);
- All connectors should be printed at 100% Infill;
- For all parts of locks (“ge_lock” in “Source files”) you need to change "Brim" type to "Skirt" in Build Plate Adhesionsection.
