Description

3D model history

Feared even among Imperial pilots, the TIE Defender was the Empire's gamble on absolute supremacy, a radical break from the philosophy of disposable starfighters. Equipped with a hyperdrive, deflector shields, and an arsenal of laser cannons, ion cannons, and warhead launchers, it could strike deep behind enemy lines without the support of capital ships. Reserved for the Empire's most elite pilots, this lethal tri-wing predator became a rare but unforgettable sight, its silhouette a moving symbol of the Empire's determination to crush the Rebellion.

This TIE Defender 3D model captures that same lethal elegance in every line and panel. From the sharply angled solar arrays to the finely detailed cockpit, it blends precision with creative flexibility. This Imperial TIE Defender model features multiple canopy designs, including a domed canonical version, and a choice of cockpit with or without a pilot. Removable wing sections allow for precision painting, while dedicated channels for optional LED lighting let you recreate the ominous glow of its engines and command module. Whether displayed as a pristine 3D printed starship fresh from the Imperial shipyards or weathered from countless battles, this Star Wars TIE Defender STL offers collectors the chance to command one of the most advanced starfighters ever conceived.

  • You can choose from multiple options for the canopy glass, including a domed version for a canonical look, c convex version for easy printing, or a flat option for a transparent plastic insert;
  • The cockpit can be printed with or without a pilot;
  • Comes with removable wing sections, which makes painting and assembly easier;
  • The rear hull features two alternative designs, allowing you to choose between a solid rear panel or one with integrated running lights;
  • The model is engineered with internal channels to accommodate LED wiring, giving you the option to illuminate the cockpit and engine. A dedicated space for battery is hidden behind the pilot.

Awesome model - makes for a great display piece. Printed everything full size on my Ender 3 S1-Plus. Pieces fit together nicely and any imperfections from joining pieces aren't visibly noticeable. One design flaw was found in the joining wing pieces - the alignment holes don't all line up. Not a big deal as there are two and it holds it together until you glue in the panels just fine. Need to go back and watch Rebels now!

Each part that any model comprises often needs preliminary review, and you are free to tweak the settings the way you find suitable.

Note:

You can scale up the model (downscaling for FFF/FDM 3D printers is not recommended!);

All connectors should be printed at 100% Infill.

Bambu Lab printing recommendations:

These basic 3D printing settings recommendations for beginners were tested in Bambu Studio 1.9.1. Test models were printed on the Bambu Lab A1, Bambu Lab A1 Mini, Creality Ender 3 S1, Anycubic Kobra 2, and Anycubic Vyper using PLA and PETG filaments.
