Description

ABOUT THIS 3D MODEL

The pink bipedal exoskeletal mech suit is the MEKA representative piloted by a professional gamer Hana Song, better known by her gamertag "D.Va”, in the course of the acclaimed video game Overwatch. The young and successful StarCraft player was recruited by the Mobile Exo-Force of the Korean Army to defend her homeland operating the bright mechanised armoured drone unit. Overwatch fans from all over the world single out the Tank duo not only because of the colour palette of D.Va’s mech but also for its impressive set of high-damage abilities. The nimble mech that was later revealed to be called “Tokki” (rabbit in Korean, obviously) can fire without any need to reload, launches into the air with the help of Boosters, shields by activating the Defence Matrix and even can Self-Destruct exploding the nearby opponents simultaneously! The author of the D.Va’s Mech model for 3D printing spent circa 154 hours working on the project in order to depict the bunny-hopping powerful mech as precisely as possible. Thus, Tokki for 3D printing is depicted with the mech’s trademark twin rotating fusion cannons and the short-range booster rockets on the sides and back of the model. The 3D artist made sure to emphasise the aerodynamic shape of MEKA’s torso and equipped the destructive drone unit with its shoulder-mounted wings and roof-mounted fins. It is no secret that D.Va always plays to win! We welcome you to prepare for any Omnic Crisis event possible by 3D printing the awesome D.Va’s MEKA mech!

D.Va’s Mech model for 3D printing is a highly articulated assembly model and its moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took Gambody team 43 hours in total. In order to ensure the multidirectional movement of the mech, it was divided into many assembly parts and special mechanisms were introduced into all model’s joints to give you an opportunity to display MEKA in a variety of positions. Thus, mech’s shoulders and both sets of booster jets are equipped with the ball-and-claw joints and can make a full rotation. For the articulated robot to stand firmly in any position you may choose there was a new ratchet mechanism introduced in the model’s foot, knees, hip and elbow joints. Thanks to the ratchet in the model’s elbow, the twin Fusion Cannons move vertically. The connection of the mech’s pelvis and upper torso ensures the model’s free rotation. Besides, windows on the MEKA’s “canopy” are provided separately to be printed with the transparent filament for you to access the highly-detailed cockpit. All assembly parts are provided in STL files in recommended positions that were worked out in order to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and so that the 3D printing beginners won't face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate. The assembly of mech’s top and bottom entry hatches in both versions requires additional “pins” to secure the parts. These pins do not come in STL files but can be made out of short pieces of regular 1.75 PLA. We highly recommend that you watch "Assembly video" in the photo preview section before assembling the Tokki. When downloading any model's file you will also receive "Assembly Manual" for FFF/FDM 1.0 and DLP/SLA/SLS 1.0 versions in PDF format.

The model is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The model's scale was calculated from the actual height of D.Va’s Mech that is 2700 mm. The 3D printing model's chosen scale is 1/8 for the FFF/FDM version and 1/16 for the DLP/SLA/SLS versions.

VERSION SPECIFICATIONS

FFF/FDM 1.0 version features:
- Contains 78 parts;
- A printed model is 390 mm tall, 402 mm wide, 313 mm deep;
- Assembly kit includes lock 48_Ge_lock_10H_x17 to attach the model's parts securely without glue that needs to be printed 17 times;
- Mech's shoulders and both sets of booster jets can make a full rotation thanks to the ball-and-claw joints;
- The ratchet mechanism in feet, knees, hip and elbow joints ensures the mech's firm standing in any position you prefer;
- Windows on the "canopy" are provided separately to be printed with the transparent filament for you to access the highly-detailed cockpit;
- The assembly of mech’s top and bottom entry hatches requires additional “pins” to secure the parts. These pins do not come in STL files but can be made out of short pieces of regular 1.75 PLA;
- All parts are divided in such a way that you will print them with the smallest number of support structures.

DLP/SLA/SLS 1.0 version features:
- Contains 35 parts;
- A printed model is 195 mm tall, 201 mm wide, 157 mm deep;
- Both sets of booster jets can make a full rotation thanks to the ball-and-claw connecting element;
- Windows on the "canopy" are provided separately to be printed with the transparent filament for you to access the highly-detailed cockpit;
- The assembly of mech’s top and bottom entry hatches requires additional “pins” to secure the parts. These pins do not come in STL files but can be made out of short pieces of regular 1.75 PLA;
- All parts are divided in such a way to fit the build plates and to ensure that support structures are generated where needed.
